Recording Computer Build

I am currently building a computer for audio recording.

Case – rackmount Istar D-400 w/620 watt ps
Motherboard - Asus P7P55D-E Pro
CPU - i7 860 with a Noctua NH-U9B SE2 cooler
Ram – 4 GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline PC3-12800 mem. 8-8-8-24
VideoPowercolor Radeon 8750 w/silent heat sink

Various optical drives and no decision by me yet to go to Solid State Drive for the OS, Windows 7 64 bit

Posting pictures soon

I have not yet selected an audio interface either. I have decided on Firewire because the computer side hardware is already on the motherboard. From what I know about this my motherboard does have a TI chipset which is preferred for audio.

Recording software is another issue as well and is closely tied to the selection of the interface. These days it seems that software developers have teamed up with hardware providers to insure compatibility, but at the cost of being widely compatible. Examples like M-Audio with ProTools and Presonus which have their own Studio One software are now available. More research to follow I guess.
